Vegan Stretch Leather & Suede Scuba | Latest Release

We are so excited to debut our newest fabrics, Suede Scuba and Fleece Backed Stretch Leather! These fabrics leave little to desire as they both feature high-end looks without skimping on any modern comforts!  Our team had the pleasure of working with this fabric prior to release and here is what they made!

    Pattern: Hey June Evans Blazer

"I never thought I'd sew anything Faux Leather but I've been OBSESSED with this color recently. (Peep my shoes and belt!) I had also bought this pattern ages ago and I have been to scardy cat to sew it until now. It was the perfect pairing and just the challenge I needed to light a sewing fire under me! The fabric itself has a nice stretch to it and isn't too thick or thin. It has nice structure while still having some drape . Tip that I wish I had when I started - get the teflon foot. It's worth it. I was using the walking foot that I typically use for most of the construction and I was getting a TON of skipped stitches. I had to redo it several times and change needles many times. As soon as I was doing final hems, I decided to put on a regular foot and add tape to the bottom and I didn't have a single skipped stitch! This would have kept extra hairs in my head had I figured this out earlier. Overall totally worth it! I am so happy with the outcome of this jacket and also excited that it was a much easier sew than I had built it up to be. If you're thinking of making a jacket or blazer, go for it! And even better, if you're thinking of using faux leather, GO FOR IT! You'll have a garment no one will believe is handmade! (Just use the teflon foot 😉 )"

    Pattern: Sonia Estep Valerie

"I am obsessed with the new stretch suede scuba and the new stretch faux leather fabrics! They are both so lovely to work with and provide an amazing structured look! Either of these fabrics would work great for a bodycon style dress, so I decided to use both fabrics together using the Sonia Estep Designs Valerie and I love the way the suede and faux leather compliment each other! These fabrics would be so amazing for a wide variety of patterns and are here just in time for all of your holiday parties!!"

Pattern: Friday Pattern Company Cambria Duster

"Time to stretch your imagination & the possibilities of making show stopping garments with the stretch suede scuba. The outer fabric is soft to the touch and feels luxurious & dreamy but still offers structure to create a stunning silhouette in whatever you make. I made Friday Pattern Company Cambria Duster in the taupe which in my opinion should be called French Vanilla the color is not your basic cream but a rich & smooth creme ( say with a french accent lol) its va va voom lovely. The stretch percentage would be perfect for a blazer or a pencil skirt or lovely trousers. I am excited to try the other colorways to make coordinates to go with my new make. I can't wait to see all yours."

Patterns: Love Notions Metra Blazer & Sybil Skirt

"Think sewing suede is beyond your reach? I can assure you it is not! This stretch suede scuba is incredibly easy to sew and appropriate for so many patterns. I made the Metra Blazer and Sybil pencil skirt, both from Love Notions Patterns. I made my blazer exclusively on my sewing machine and the skirt using only my serger. I hemmed both using my coverstitch machine. I did use fresh needles on all of my machines and I can attest that this fabric sewed up beautifully. It could get a little bulky at the seams, but I sewed slowly and had no issues. This fabric features a smooth back and is very comfortable against the skin. And I can’t stop feeling of the suede side…it is so soft! I can think of so many other projects for this suede. How striking would it be in some head-turning leggings? I definitely recommend you add this fabric to your collection!"

    Pattern: Aura Patterns Pinafore

"This suede scuba was love at first touch! It's incredibly soft on the right side, thick and structured making it suitable for so many different garments! I have been loving the pinafore look at wanted to try my hand at making one. I struggle to find one that was knit friendly, as I didn't want to line the entire bodice (the fabric is quite thick for that). So, I settled on a simple Pinafore from Aura Patterns and I lengthened it 2" to accommodate my height. I really like the look and cannot wait to style it with other handmade pieces!"
